Mike Butler, Architect, NCARB, LEED AP
Mike graduated from Texas A&M in 1983 with a Master of Architecture degree. He has devoted his professional career since that time to developing projects with enduring qualities for his clients. Mike knows each client has a unique personality and story to tell. His skills are in understanding those stories and reflecting them in the design of a place. Reviewing the projects he has accomplished will quickly show his ability to respond to the specific programmatic needs of the client.
Recent years has allowed Mike to bring along sustainable ideas to his projects. Examples are evident where the design reflects the regional characteristic of where the project is located. His clients have also become more aware of the benefit of using regional materials and construction methods in their projects. Mike believes people have an influence in the environment places a strong responsibility on designers to act responsibly. His understanding of the relationship between indoor activities and outdoor activities generates ideas that connect the two elements.
Mike Butler, the founding principal at Butler Architectural Group, has worked to build a staff capable of responding to the specific needs of our clients. His background is varied and includes master planning campuses for institutional and religious clients as well as designing buildings and spaces requiring the understanding of acoustics and visibility/audience connectedness. Some of his projects in East Texas with defined goals include The Brook Hill School, All Saints Episcopal School, Tyler Junior College, The University of Texas at Tyler, Dayspring United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church of Tyler and Marvin United Methodist Church. Each project requires an understanding of the client, their needs and the relationship of the project to the selected site.
